Ribosomal protein S15a pseudogene 7 (RPS15AP7) is a non-protein-coding processed pseudogene related to the RPS15A gene, which encodes a protein component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. It was created through retrotransposition and retains significant sequence similarity to RPS15A, but lacks the capacity to encode a functional protein. RPS15AP7 has no assigned biological function and is not considered a therapeutic target. Whereas its parent gene RPS15A is involved in protein synthesis and associated with certain anemia disorders, RPS15AP7 itself does not contribute to known biological pathways or diseases.
