Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein S19 pseudogenes are non-functional DNA sequences in the human genome that show high similarity to the functional RPS19 gene but do not produce a functional protein[7][8]. They are the result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are dispersed throughout the genome. Unlike the functional RPS19 gene, which is essential for ribosome assembly and implicated in Diamond-Blackfan anemia, these pseudogenes have no known protein-coding function or role in disease[7][8].
