Ribosomal protein S2 pseudogene 24 (RPS2P24) is a non-functional, processed pseudogene related to the functional ribosomal protein S2 gene (RPS2), which encodes a component of the ribosomal 40S subunit[3][6]. Pseudogenes such as RPS2P24 are generated by duplication or retrotransposition events and do not generally produce functional proteins. They are distributed throughout the genome and have no established role as therapeutic targets, drug interactors, or disease biomarkers. Although some pseudogenes can have regulatory effects, there is no evidence of such a role for RPS2P24[3].
