Overview

Ribosomal protein S2 pseudogene 29 (RPS2P29) is a processed pseudogene derived from the functional ribosomal protein S2 (RPS2) gene. Pseudogenes such as RPS2P29 do not code for functional proteins and are generally considered non-coding, although they may retain sequence similarity to their parent gene. Multiple RPS2 pseudogenes, including RPS2P29, exist dispersed throughout the human genome as a result of retrotransposition or genomic duplication events. These pseudogenes are not recognized as therapeutic targets and have no established biological or disease role. RPS2P29 is a non-coding pseudogene without a therapeutic, biological, or disease-linked function. Its presence in genomic databases reflects sequence similarity to ribosomal protein S2 genes, but it is not considered a valid drug target or a biologically relevant molecule.
