Ribosomal protein S2 pseudogene 6 (RPS2P6) is a processed pseudogene derived from the functional ribosomal protein S2 gene (RPS2), which encodes a protein component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Pseudogenes like RPS2P6 are typically genomic sequences that resemble functional genes but do not code for functional protein products due to disablements such as stop codons or lack of transcriptional activity. While some pseudogenes in the human genome may play roles in regulating gene expression or RNA silencing, there is no evidence that RPS2P6 has such biological functions. It has no confirmed role in disease, drug interactions, or as a therapeutic target. Its main relevance is academic, for studies of genome evolution and the distribution of ribosomal protein pseudogenes[4][5].
