Ribosomal protein S20 pseudogene 10 (RPS20P10) is a processed pseudogene related to the gene encoding ribosomal protein S20, a component of the eukaryotic 40S ribosomal subunit. Pseudogenes such as RPS20P10 arise via the duplication and subsequent loss of function of protein-coding genes; they typically do not code for a functional protein and are not implicated in disease or as therapeutic targets. The canonical, functional counterpart, ribosomal protein S20 (RPS20), participates in ribosome structure and protein synthesis, but RPS20P10 itself encodes no active product and is not referred to as a target in pharmacological or biomedical contexts. There is nothing to suggest RPS20P10 plays a recognized biological role or acts as a biomarker, and there are no known drugs that interact with it.
