Overview

Ribosomal protein S20 pseudogene 14 (RPS20P14) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein S20 (RPS20), which is a component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit in humans[6][8]. Pseudogenes like RPS20P14 do not code for functional proteins and are considered non-functional genetic elements that originated from their parental genes via gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Unlike the functional RPS20 gene, which participates in ribosome function and protein synthesis[3][5], the RPS20P14 pseudogene does not encode a functional protein and does not have a documented biological or therapeutic role[6][8].
