Ribosomal protein S20 pseudogene 23 (RPS20P23) is a human processed pseudogene that does not code for a functional protein[1][8]. It originates from the parent RPS20 gene, which encodes a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[3][4]. Like other processed pseudogenes, RPS20P23 is considered nonfunctional in terms of protein-coding capacity and is not recognized as a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, or transporter. Some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles or be differentially expressed in tissues, particularly in cancer, but there is no direct evidence for a unique functional or disease role for RPS20P23 itself[1][8]. There are currently no known drugs, mechanisms of action, or clinical biomarkers associated with this pseudogene.
