Overview

ribosomal protein S24 pseudogene 13 (RPS24P13) is a pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein S24 gene (RPS24), which encodes a structural component of the small ribosomal 40S subunit involved in protein synthesis[1][4]. Pseudogenes like RPS24P13 do not encode functional proteins and typically arise from duplication or retrotransposition events in evolution. There is no evidence that RPS24P13 itself encodes protein or is involved in any known biological pathways, disease associations, or therapeutic targeting[1]. Pseudogenes are often referenced in genomic studies for their sequence similarity to protein-coding genes but do not themselves produce proteins or have an active, independent biological function unless otherwise specified. The protein-coding parent gene, RPS24, is associated with ribosome function and, when mutated, can play a role in Diamond-Blackfan anemia[4]. However, this does not apply to the pseudogene. No evidence exists that RPS24P13 is a drug target, biomarker, or involved in disease, nor are there drugs or safety concerns directly associated with it. Summary: RPS24P13 is a non-functional ribosomal protein pseudogene with no known role as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or other molecular target in medicine or pharmacology[1][4].
