Ribosomal protein S24 pseudogene 6 (RPS24P6) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the ribosomal protein S24 gene (RPS24) but does not encode a functional protein. Like many ribosomal protein pseudogenes, it is a non-coding genomic sequence generated by retrotransposition or genomic duplication events and retained as a pseudogene[8][11][7][2][5]. Pseudogenes such as RPS24P6 are generally considered non-functional relics; while some pseudogenes in other contexts can have regulatory functions, there is no evidence that RPS24P6 has such a role. It is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other druggable or functional biological target in medicine or pharmacology. RPS24P6 is a pseudogene, not a functional protein or receptor, and is not a validated or putative therapeutic target. Inclusion as a molecular target or biomarker would be incorrect[2][7][8][11].
