Overview

Ribosomal protein S25 pseudogenes are non-functional genomic sequences that are similar in sequence to the functional ribosomal protein S25 (RPS25) gene but do not encode an active protein product[2][9]. The RPS25 gene encodes a component of the small 40S ribosomal subunit essential for protein synthesis. However, its associated pseudogenes, such as ENSG00000185641, arise from duplication events and do not produce functional ribosomal proteins[9]. These pseudogenes do not serve as therapeutic targets and have no known biological or disease-related functions, and thus are not relevant for drug development or patient stratification[2][9][12]. ENSG00000185641 refers to a ribosomal protein S25 pseudogene; as a non-coding genomic remnant, it is not considered a therapeutic target, lacks molecular function, and is not involved in disease or drug response. Any reference to this as a target is incorrect or misleading[2][9][12].
