RPS25P10 is a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein S25 gene, present in the human genome with sequence similarity to RPS25 but lacking the ability to code for a functional protein[6]. Pseudogenes like RPS25P10 originate from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically do not contribute to ribosomal function or other cellular processes. The canonical ribosomal protein S25 is a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, but RPS25P10 itself does not encode an active protein and has not been implicated in human disease or pharmacology[3][4][5][6][7]. For functional analysis or drug targeting, the correct entity is 40S ribosomal protein S25 (RPS25), not the pseudogene RPS25P10.
