Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein S25 pseudogene 3 (RPS25P3) is a pseudogene in the human genome that is similar in sequence to the functional ribosomal protein S25 gene (RPS25). Pseudogenes such as RPS25P3 are generally non-coding, meaning they do not produce functional proteins. RPS25P3 contains sequences that resemble those found in the RPS25 protein-coding gene, but due to mutations or other genomic changes, it lacks the ability to be translated into a mature protein[5]. There is no evidence that RPS25P3 is involved in any biological process, disease, or therapeutic mechanism. Additional context on ribosomal protein S25: The actual ribosomal protein S25 (encoded by the RPS25 gene, not the pseudogene) is a component of the 40S small ribosomal subunit and is involved in general protein synthesis and specialized forms of mRNA translation[1][3][7]. There are multiple RPS25 pseudogenes dispersed throughout the genome, and RPS25P3 is one of them[1][2][3][5]. Summary: RPS25P3 is a pseudogene, not a therapeutic target, does not encode a functional protein, and has no recognized role in drug targeting, disease association, or biomarker utility[5]. All entries where target-specific, disease, or drug metadata are required should be marked null or “Other” to indicate non-applicability.
