Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein S26 pseudogene 41 (RPS26P41) is a human processed pseudogene related to the functional ribosomal protein S26 gene (RPS26). Unlike the parent gene, which encodes a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit essential for protein synthesis, RPS26P41 does not encode any functional protein. Numerous similar pseudogenes for RPS26 exist in the genome, most of which are considered non-functional byproducts of gene duplication and retrotransposition. RPS26P41 is not associated with human disease, drug response, or therapeutic intervention.
