Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein S26 pseudogene 48 (RPS26P48) is a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein S26 gene. Pseudogenes such as RPS26P48 are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but generally lack the ability to code for a functional protein due to disabling mutations, truncations, or other sequence changes. RPS26P48 does not encode a functional protein and does not have known biological or pathological function. It is not considered a therapeutic or diagnostic target, unlike its parent gene RPS26, which encodes a key structural ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis[1][2][11].
