Ribosomal protein S27 pseudogene 22 (RPS27P22) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome that shares high sequence similarity with the functional ribosomal protein S27 gene (RPS27) and its paralog RPS27L. While the functional protein participates in ribosome biogenesis and cellular translation and may play roles in cancer, the pseudogene itself does not encode an active protein and is not considered a valid therapeutic target. References to RPS27P22 should not be conflated with those for functional ribosomal protein S27 or S27L, which have studied roles in protein synthesis, cell growth, and disease[4][5][6].
