Ribosomal protein S27 pseudogene 3 (RPS27P3)

Target
RPS27P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Other (not a canonical ribosomal protein, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor)
01

Overview

Ribosomal protein S27 pseudogene 3 (RPS27P3) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome with sequence similarity to the ribosomal protein S27 gene (RPS27). The RPS27 protein is a structural constituent of the 40S ribosomal subunit and contains a zinc finger domain, but RPS27P3, as a pseudogene, does not encode a functional protein and is not known to have biological, disease-related, or druggable roles. Unlike the parent gene, RPS27, which is implicated in protein synthesis and in certain diseases such as cancer and Diamond-Blackfan anemia, RPS27P3 is not known to play any direct functional or pathological roles

Other names
RPS27P3ribosomal protein S27 pseudogene 3
02

Mechanism of action

None, as there are no drugs or mechanisms of action described for this pseudogene

03

Biological functions

None established. Pseudogenes typically lack biological functions, though some may have regulatory RNA roles in certain contexts. No such evidence exists for RPS27P3
04

Disease associations

None directly established. No validated links between RPS27P3 and disease states. Most disease associations are with the parent gene (RPS27) and not its pseudogenes
05

Safety considerations

None reported, as it is not a therapeutic or druggable target
06

Interacting drugs

None. There are no drugs that specifically target RPS27P3
07

Biomarkers

None established for RPS27P3. Some ribosomal protein genes are studied as cancer biomarkers, but not this pseudogene
