Overview

RPS27A pseudogene 3 (RPS27AP3) is a pseudogene derived from the functional RPS27A gene, which encodes a fusion protein containing ubiquitin and ribosomal protein S27a, an essential component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Unlike the parent gene (RPS27A), pseudogenes like RPS27AP3 are generally regarded as non-functional and do not produce functional proteins, though in rare cases processed pseudogenes may be transcribed or exert regulatory roles[1][3][5][7]. RPS27A pseudogene 3 (RPS27AP3) is a processed non-coding pseudogene related to the RPS27A (ribosomal protein S27a) gene. It does not code for a protein or serve as a drug target, is generally considered to have no direct biological function, and should not be included in panels of functional molecular targets.
