Ribosomal protein S28 pseudogene 5 (RPS28P5) is classified as a processed pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein[1][11]. It originates from the gene encoding 40S ribosomal protein S28, a component of the small ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[7][4]. However, as a pseudogene, RPS28P5 plays no known role in molecular function, disease, or drug interaction, and is not a therapeutic target. The functional *RPS28* gene, but not its pseudogenes, has been associated with rare genetic disorders such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia[4][3][7]. Pseudogenes like RPS28P5 are common for ribosomal protein genes, representing remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events without coding or regulatory activity[1][11]. Note: There is *nothing therapeutically actionable* and *no evidence of RPS28P5 being a drug target*. Its inclusion as a target is incorrect—RPS28P5 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any therapeutic target class[1][2][5].
