Pseudogenes such as RPS29P14 do not encode functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic drug targets. Their primary relevance is typically limited to genomic annotation and evolutionary studies. The functional parent gene, ribosomal protein S29, is essential for ribosome assembly, but this activity does not extend to RPS29P14[4][5].
