Overview

Ribosomal protein S29 pseudogene 21 (RPS29P21) is classified as a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein S29 gene family in the human genome[11][9][12]. Unlike the functional ribosomal protein S29 gene, which encodes a structural component of the small ribosomal (40S) subunit, pseudogenes such as RPS29P21 do not produce functional protein products[3][11]. Their sequence is related to the parental gene but they lack biological activity and are not known to participate in cellular or disease processes. There is no current evidence that RPS29P21 is involved in therapeutic targeting, disease association, or biomarker applications.
