Overview

Ribosomal protein S29 pseudogene 4 (*RPS29P4*) is a processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein S29 gene. Unlike the canonical *RPS29*, which encodes a functional component of the ribosomal 40S subunit, *RPS29P4* does not encode a functional protein and is not known to have any established biological function, disease role, or therapeutic relevance. Pseudogenes such as RPS29P4 are copied gene sequences that have lost their protein-coding ability and are usually considered non-functional genomic elements, although some pseudogenes may have regulatory RNA roles in rare cases[2][7][9][6].
