Overview

Ribosomal protein S29 pseudogene 5 (RPS29P5) is a processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein S29 (RPS29) gene. As a pseudogene, RPS29P5 contains sequence similarity to RPS29 but does not produce a functional protein and is not involved directly in cellular processes or disease mechanisms. The parent gene RPS29 encodes a cytoplasmic component of the ribosomal 40S subunit essential for protein synthesis, but RPS29P5 itself has no known functional, disease, or therapeutic relevance.
