Ribosomal protein S29 pseudogene 9 (RPS29P9) is a pseudogene in the human genome representing a noncoding copy of the ribosomal protein S29 gene. Unlike the canonical RPS29 gene, which encodes a structural protein of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit essential for rRNA processing and hemopoiesis[2][3][7][8], the pseudogene does not produce functional protein and is not implicated in disease or drug response. As with other pseudogenes, RPS29P9 may share sequence similarity with its active gene but lacks biological activity and is not a molecular target in therapeutics[5].
