Overview

Ribosomal protein S3 pseudogene 7 (RPS3P7) is a non-functional, processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein S3 gene. Like many processed pseudogenes, RPS3P7 lacks regulatory elements and/or functional coding sequence, and does not produce a functional protein. The canonical ribosomal protein S3 (RPS3) is a key structural and functional component of the 40S small ribosomal subunit and is involved in translation initiation, DNA repair, apoptosis, and other cellular processes. Multiple processed pseudogenes of RPS3, such as RPS3P7, are scattered throughout the genome, but these pseudogenes do not have established biological roles or therapeutic relevance[1][3][5][8]. Summary: RPS3P7 is not a functional therapeutic target, but a processed pseudogene of ribosomal protein S3. There is no evidence it has a biological function or therapeutic value. If a functional ribosomal protein S3 target is intended, use “Ribosomal protein S3 (RPS3)” as the canonical name instead.
