Overview

Ribosomal protein S3A pseudogene 15 (RPS3AP15) is one of multiple processed pseudogenes derived from the parent gene RPS3A, which encodes a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[3][5][7]. Pseudogenes like RPS3AP15 are non-coding genomic elements—arising from duplication, retrotransposition, or processing—that generally do not produce functional proteins. Some pseudogenes can have regulatory functions, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), miRNA decoys, or influencing posttranscriptional regulation of their parental genes[2]. However, there is no published evidence for any specific biological or disease role for RPS3AP15, nor is it considered a therapeutic target.

Disease associations

Other (no direct disease association reported for RPS3AP15; by analogy with other pseudogenes, some can regulate parent gene expression or act as miRNA decoys[2], but there is no evidence for RPS3AP15 itself)
