RPS3A pseudogene 29 (RPS3AP29) is a processed pseudogene derived from the parental RPS3A gene, which encodes the ribosomal protein S3A, a component of the 40S small ribosomal subunit[6][7]. RPS3AP29 itself is a noncoding, nonfunctional genomic sequence that arose via retrotransposition and does not produce an active protein. While the parental RPS3A gene is involved in protein synthesis in the ribosome and has been associated with a variety of cellular processes, the pseudogene RPS3AP29 has no known biological function and is not implicated in any diseases or therapeutic mechanisms[6][7][4]. Pseudogenes like RPS3AP29 are common in the human genome and accumulate due to gene duplication and retrotransposition events, and they are generally considered "genomic fossils" without direct biological impact[4][6].\nKey reasons this is not a valid therapeutic target:\n- It is not expressed as a protein, so there is no structure or function to be targeted by drugs.\n- There is no evidence for functional RNA production or regulatory action.\n- There is no known disease association or role in any biological pathway.
