Overview

Ribosomal protein S3A pseudogene 32 (RPS3AP32) is a processed pseudogene, also called a retrocopy, originating from the parental functional gene RPS3A, which encodes a protein component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit. RPS3AP32 is located on chromosome 10:106,266,076-106,266,318 (according to RCPedia)[6], or chromosome 8:74,055,882-74,056,647 (Ensembl)[8]. As a pseudogene, RPS3AP32 does not encode a functional protein, and there is no evidence for transcriptional or regulatory activity for this locus. Pseudogenes rarely contribute to cellular phenotypes unless acting via regulatory noncoding RNAs, which is not indicated for RPS3AP32. There are no known disease associations, clinical uses, or drugs targeting RPS3AP32.
