Ribosomal protein S3a pseudogene 38 (RPS3AP38)

Target
RPS3AP38
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

RPS3AP38 is a noncoding processed pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein. It is a retrocopy, meaning it originated by reverse transcription of RPS3A mRNA and integration into the genome, but lacks regulatory elements and typically is transcriptionally inactive[9][7]. The parent gene, RPS3A, encodes a structural protein involved in the ribosome's small (40S) subunit, but RPS3AP38 itself does not participate in protein synthesis, signal transduction, disease processes, or serve as a known therapeutic target. There is no evidence of involvement of RPS3AP38 in biological pathways, drug interactions, or as a biomarker[5][7][9].
