RPS3AP43 is a processed pseudogene found in the human genome, specifically on chromosome 16 (chr16:30427960-30428807). It is a retrocopy derived from the protein-coding gene Ribosomal protein S3A (RPS3A), a component of the 40S subunit of the ribosome. RPS3AP43, like most pseudogenes, does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological role, disease involvement, or therapeutic relevance. The parental gene, RPS3A, is essential for protein synthesis, but RPS3AP43 itself is a non-functional genomic element resulting from retrotransposition.
