RPS3A pseudogene 46 (RPS3AP46) represents a *processed pseudogene* of the ribosomal protein S3a (RPS3A) gene in humans. Unlike the functional RPS3A gene, which encodes a component of the small 40S ribosomal subunit critical for protein synthesis, RPS3AP46 does **not** encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes like RPS3AP46 generally arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and may occasionally exhibit regulatory or non-coding RNA functions, but there is no evidence that RPS3AP46 serves such roles. It is neither a therapeutic target nor associated with any drugs, mechanisms of action, disease roles, or established biomarker status[10][14][15][16][17].
