RPS3A pseudogene 49 (RPS3AP49) is a human processed pseudogene related to the functional ribosomal protein S3A gene but does not encode a functional protein. It is a non-functional genomic sequence that resembles a protein-coding gene. RPS3AP49 is not associated with known biological functions, disease roles, or drug interactions. Unlike functional ribosomal proteins (like RPS3A), pseudogenes like RPS3AP49 do not serve as therapeutic targets, enzymes, transporters, or receptors, and there are no reported functional studies, disease associations, or pharmacological interactions for it. It is distinct from the genuine ribosomal protein S3A (RPS3A) gene or protein, which is functionally important and participates in ribosome structure and protein synthesis.
