Ribosomal protein S4X pseudogene 2 (RPS4XP2) is a processed pseudogene corresponding to the ribosomal protein S4X gene. While ribosomal protein S4 contributes to the 40S ribosomal subunit and is involved in protein synthesis, RPS4XP2 does not encode a functional protein and is not translated or expressed as an active ribosomal component. It has no known biological activity or role as a therapeutic or diagnostic target, and is one of many processed pseudogenes derived from ribosomal protein-encoding genes dispersed throughout the human genome[4][5][7].
