Overview

Ribosomal protein S5 pseudogene 4 (RPS5P4) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome that shares sequence similarity with the functional ribosomal protein S5 gene but does not encode a functional protein or participate in ribosome assembly or protein synthesis. Like other pseudogenes, it is generally considered non-functional and is not implicated as a therapeutic target or biomarker in disease. Pseudogenes arise via gene duplication or retrotransposition and may have regulatory roles in rare cases, but there is no strong evidence for activity from RPS5P4.

Biological functions

Other (Most pseudogenes do not encode functional proteins; however, rare pseudogenes may have regulatory RNA roles. There is no credible evidence of RPS5P4 having a biological function.)
03

Disease associations

Other (No established disease association. Functional ribosomal protein S5 can show variable expression in cancer, but the pseudogene RPS5P4 has no confirmed disease roles)
