Overview

Ribosomal protein S7 pseudogene 4 (RPS7P4) is a non-functional segment of DNA that shares sequence homology with the functional ribosomal protein S7 gene (RPS7). As a pseudogene, it does not produce a protein nor participate directly in biological processes. RPS7P4 has no recognized biological function, disease association, or interaction with drugs. It should not be confused with ribosomal protein S7, which is an essential structural protein of the eukaryotic 40S ribosomal subunit that catalyzes protein synthesis and is related to several diseases (such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia)[1][3]. RPS7P4 is not a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, transporter, nor does it have any established biological role—it is a pseudogene[1][3][4]. RPS7, in contrast, is a ribosomal protein involved in translation and associated with genetic diseases, but these attributes do not apply to RPS7P4[1][3][7]. This entry is considered incorrect as a therapeutic target due to its status as a pseudogene rather than a protein-coding gene[1][3][4].
