Overview

Ribosomal protein S7 pseudogene 7 (RPS7P7) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome related to the coding gene ribosomal protein S7 (RPS7), which encodes a structural component of the small (40S) ribosomal subunit[1][3][4]. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart, RPS7P7 has lost the ability to code for a functional protein and is not known to have a biological or therapeutic function. Pseudogenes like RPS7P7 arise from duplication or retrotransposition events of functional genes but accumulate mutations that prevent them from producing proteins. There is no evidence that RPS7P7 is involved in disease, drug targeting, signaling, or cell biology, and it does not serve as a biomarker or therapeutic target[3][4].
