Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 11 (RPSAP11) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome closely related to the functional ribosomal protein SA gene (RPSA), which encodes a multifunctional protein involved in ribosomal structure and cell-surface laminin binding. RPSAP11 is not transcribed into a functional protein and, like other RPSA pseudogenes, is the evolutionary byproduct of gene duplication or retrotransposition. It is not a therapeutic target or biomarker and does not have a known biological function or disease association. Confusion can arise due to similarity in nomenclature with the protein-coding RPSA gene, which is implicated in cancer and infection processes, but RPSAP11 itself bears no such function or significance[3][4][1].
