Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 17 (RPSAP17)

Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 17 (RPSAP17) is a processed pseudogene related to the gene encoding ribosomal protein SA (RPSA)[3][1]. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but typically lack the capacity to encode proteins or exert direct biological effects. RPSAP17 does not encode a functional protein and is not known to play a direct biological or disease role. It is distinct from the parent RPSA gene, which encodes a multifunctional ribosomal protein and laminin receptor with involvement in metastasis and cancer progression[9]. RPSAP17 is not considered a therapeutic target, gene marker, or receptor, and has no established link to drug interactions or disease pathology.
