Overview
Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 24 (RPSAP24) is a processed pseudogene of the RPSA gene, which encodes the multifunctional 37/67 kDa laminin receptor/Ribosomal protein SA. RPSAP24 does not encode a functional protein and is not implicated as a direct therapeutic or diagnostic target. Like other pseudogenes in the RPSA family, RPSAP24 is highly homologous to the functional gene but is not expressed as a protein and has no defined biological role. Its existence is relevant chiefly for genomic annotation and for avoiding confounding results in genetic studies targeting the functional RPSA gene.
