Current evidence does not support RPSAP26 being transcribed into a functional RNA or translated into protein, nor is there any known biological or disease association for this pseudogene[2][1]. Pseudogenes generally are not considered therapeutic targets, do not serve as biomarkers, and do not interact with drugs. RPSAP26 should not be confused with the functional parent gene **ribosomal protein SA (RPSA)**, which is involved in ribosome assembly, protein synthesis, cell adhesion, and disease processes such as cancer and prion disease[1][3][5].
