Overview

Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 43 (RPSAP43) is a non-functional genomic segment highly homologous to the ribosomal protein SA gene (RPSA), which encodes for a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit and also functions as a laminin receptor. The RPSA gene has numerous processed pseudogenes, including RPSAP43; however, these pseudogenes do not produce functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets. Pseudogenes may be transcribed in some cases, but there is no evidence that RPSAP43 has any biological activity or clinical relevance.
