Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 50 (RPSAP50)

Target
RPSAP50
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

RPSAP50 is a pseudogene annotated in the human genome as related to the ribosomal protein SA (RPSA)[5]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but usually non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[7]. This gene does not encode a protein and does not have the biological activities of its parent RPSA, which itself is multifunctional, serving roles in ribosomal function, laminin binding, cancer metastasis, and as a biomarker for metastasis[1][3]. However, RPSAP50, being a pseudogene, is not known to be involved in any cellular function, therapeutic targeting, or disease processes. There are no recorded pharmacological interactions, disease associations, or safety concerns for this pseudogene.
