Ribosomal protein SA pseudogene 76 (RPSAP76) is one of many processed, non-coding pseudogene copies derived from the functional ribosomal protein SA (RPSA) gene, which encodes a ribosomal protein with additional functions as a cell surface laminin receptor. RPSAP76 and similar pseudogenes lack protein-coding potential and are not regarded as therapeutic targets, drug-interacting molecules, or biomarker candidates. Most pseudogenes in the RPSA family have sequence homology with RPSA but possess mutations that prevent translation into a functional protein[3][4]. There is no evidence that RPSAP76 has a regulatory role or contributes to disease pathogenesis.
