Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein uL16-like is a component of the large ribosomal subunit and plays a crucial role in protein synthesis. It is involved in the transition from prophase to metaphase in male meiosis I. Proteins similar to uL16 are important for coordinating intersubunit rotation and controlling allosteric rearrangements within the ribosome, ensuring the fidelity of protein synthesis. Mutations in uL16-like proteins have been associated with diseases such as T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL).
