Ribosomal protein uL11 is a universally conserved component of the large ribosomal subunit, found in all domains of life. It plays a central role in protein synthesis by participating in multiple stages of translation and ribosome biogenesis. It is located at the GTPase-associated center (GAC) and interacts with translational GTPases, stabilizing their productive states during translation elongation. Beyond its canonical role, uL11 may have additional regulatory functions outside its structural role within ribosomes, such as cell-cycle regulation.
