Overview

Ribosomal RNA processing 12 homolog (RRP12) is a nucleolar RNA-binding protein involved in the maturation and export of eukaryotic ribosomal subunits. Highly conserved, it functions as a key component in ribosome biogenesis, mediating rRNA processing and ribosomal transport. RRP12 is implicated in cell cycle progression, DNA damage response, and apoptosis regulation, primarily through modulating the p53 pathway under stress conditions. Overexpression of RRP12 is associated with proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of various cancer types, including hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal cancer, and correlates with poor prognosis. Its expression also impacts immune infiltration and checkpoint status in tumors, indicating both biomarker and therapeutic target potential in oncology[1][2][3][4][5].
