Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal S6 kinase alpha-3 (RSK2) is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that functions downstream of the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway. It plays a crucial role in mediating mitogenic and stress-induced activation of transcription factors, regulating translation through phosphorylation of ribosomal protein S6 (RPS6) and EIF4B, and modulating cellular proliferation, survival, and differentiation. Mutations in the RPS6KA3 gene, which encodes RSK2, are associated with Coffin-Lowry syndrome.
ERK/MAPK signaling pathway modulation via phosphorylation of downstream targets.
