Overview

Ribosome production factor 1 homolog (RPF1) is a nucleolar protein involved in the maturation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA), specifically contributing to the processing and maturation of 5.8S and large subunit (LSU) rRNA, which are essential steps in ribosome biogenesis[3][6]. RPF1 contains a Brix domain, a conserved motif found in proteins associated with ribosome assembly and biogenesis[6]. In humans, RPF1 is located in the nucleolus and enables RNA binding activity, and predicted roles include facilitating the assembly and export of the large ribosomal subunit[3][5][6]. There is no current evidence that RPF1 is a direct therapeutic target or interacts with any approved drugs.
