Ribosome production factor 2 homolog pseudogene 1 (RPF2P1) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence that resembles the functional ribosome production factor 2 (RPF2) gene but is not transcribed into a functional protein. RPF2P1 is annotated in human genomic databases and shares homology with the yeast ribosome production factor 2 gene, but unlike its functional counterpart (RPF2), RPF2P1 does not participate in ribosomal biogenesis or other cellular functions. There is no evidence that RPF2P1 is involved in human disease, nor are there any known drugs acting on this locus, and it is not considered as a therapeutic target by current biomedical research. It is important to distinguish RPF2P1 (a pseudogene) from RPF2 (a functional ribosome biogenesis factor).
