Overview
The Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) encodes two major glycoproteins, Gn and Gc, which are the principal viral antigens present on the surface of the virion. These glycoproteins play essential roles in viral entry by mediating host cell receptor binding and membrane fusion. They are key targets for diagnostics and vaccine development. Gc acts as a class II fusion protein activated upon acidification, facilitating viral-host membrane fusion during entry.
